Our Ingredients

Our recipes use the highest quality raw ingredients, sourced from Canada where possible. Our facility is located in St Marys, Ontario, Canada in the middle of Ontario’s agriculture belt. We are ideally situated for local ingredient sourcing throughout Canada and the USA.

Each of our ingredients and ingredient suppliers are evaluated through our Nutrace program. We evaluate incoming ingredients for a variety of quality, safety and nutritional aspects.

Our Ingredients

  • Alfalfa (suncured)

Sourced from Canada, alfalfa is dried by solar means and then ground, producing alfalfa meal. Alfalfa meal provides the dietary fibre necessary for gut function and mobility, and helps with the formation of good stools. Also contains chlorophyll and beta-carotene antioxidants, and vitamin D (needed for proper use of minerals such as calcium by the body).

  • Algae Meal (DHA)

A natural source of DHA, docosahexaenoic acid (an omega-3 essential fatty acid) that is fish-free and vegetarian. DHA is helpful in promoting the proper development of the brain and eyes in young growing animals as well as supporting cognitive function in senior animals.

  • Aloe Vera

The cactus-like Aloe barbadensis is commonly used as a topical wound treatment but also has beneficial properties when eaten. It contains immunostimulants and has anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Aniseed

The seeds from the herb, anise, are used as a digestive enhancer. It also has antimicrobial properties and provides a palatable flavour.

  • Apples

A popular fruit in Canada and around the world, apples are an excellent source of pectin, a type of dietary fibre that promotes healthy gastrointestinal tract function. Apples also contain phenolic compounds that provide antioxidative activity to protect cells.

  • Ascorbic acid

Ascorbic acid is included in many of our products under ‘vitamins’ in the ingredient deck. It is a stabilized form of vitamin C and although vitamin C is not essential to dogs and cats like humans, there are benefits to including it in the diet. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant to protect cells from free radical damage and it also functions in tissue maintenance for skin and bones.

  • Aspergillus Oryzae fermentation product (digestive enzyme)

Aspergillus oryzae fermentation product contains high levels of key digestive enzymes for the breakdown and absorption of carbohydrates.
